Australian web addresses are about to become a whole lot shorter with the launch of .au domains, allowing people to drop the .com for the first time! HELLO shorter domain names!
Until 20 September 2022, if you hold a domain, you will have priority to register the direct domain that is equivalent to your current domain.
To give you a quick example, in the case of our business, we can secure www.cribcreative.au as we currently own www.cribcreative.com.au - we have the first right to purchase this new domain name until September 20.
What happens if I don't register?
If you do not register your .au domain name by this date, your ‘.au’ domain name equivalent will become available to the general public on a ‘first come, first served’ basis - and you certainly don't want that for your business SEO.
So, go on! What are you waiting for?
